The time is fast approaching that we need to make our voices clearly and specifically heard in Mitchell County and across WNC. We need to have everyone possible at the public meeting on Tuesday evening, October 23, sponsored by the State Division of Air Quality. The meeting is our chance to let the State know in no uncertain terms that we do not want the Young and McQueen Asphalt plant so close to our schools, daycare center, Brian Center and our residential areas.

We have researched, talked, met, e-mailed and many other things to get the word out for people to attend this meeting. Our shear numbers will be an indication of how we feel but even more important are the words that we can share with the State agency responsible for permitting this placement.

We know full well the need for asphalt but we strongly oppose the location and the implications for our health and well being in this area.

Please be present on Tuesday evening at the meeting at Harris Middle School located just off Greenwood Road at 6:00p.m. to let your feelings and desires known. Prepare your comments to address the Hearing Officer so that you can state your feelings in the three minute time limit that will be imposed. Do not leave this to chance. Even if you do not choose to make a statement come to show your support.

I look forward to seeing you all there. Please come!!!!
