Christmas Wishes board 2 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
I've received many emails from visitors to the site that mention how touched they were by the HGTV special. The sentiment is appreciated, but only I get to see it!

Therefore, I've created this board to allow you to send your best wishes and hopes to the town of Spruce Pine for all to see. It has been a rough couple of years in town, and I'm sure all the residents will appreciate it.

Feel free to click "New Topic" and send your greetings to the town that is the Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree!

Merry Christmas!

My dad was born and raised in Spruce Pine and our family visited every summer. My Grandmother took me to the shop that was featured on the HGTV show. I remember many Thanksgivings in Spruce Pine and Bakersville. As a child I was amazed at the amount of decorations and the Christmas parades such a small town would have. Why even the large town I live in now never decorated as much as Spruce Pine did.

Every year we picked out a Christmas tree from my grandfather's farm in Bakersville and took it all the way back home (a five hour trip) to have the best Christmas tree in the world. My little sister even got a 3 foot tree one yr , she was maybe 7, and we planted in the front yard and decorated it each year. This year we were saddened for the huge tree it became was destroyed in a wind and hail storm.

Now the tree is gone and we have no family left in Spruce Pine or Bakersville. It filled my heart with joy to see Spruce Pine on HGTV and all the old familiar sights of home!
